How to use Image to Text Extractor
- Upload an image that contains text — a screenshot, a photo or a scan.
- Choose the language of the text (English by default).
- Press “Extract text”. The first time you use a language, its data downloads once and is then cached by your browser.
- Copy the extracted text, or download it as a .txt file.
About this tool
Optical character recognition reads the text inside an image and turns it into copyable, editable text. It is useful for screenshots you cannot select, photos of documents, notes and signs, and scanned pages.
The extraction runs entirely in your browser using the free, open-source Tesseract engine compiled to WebAssembly. Because your device does the work, there are no sign-ups, no accounts and no usage limits. Accuracy depends on how clear the text is — sharp, well-lit, straight-on images work best.
